Synthetic marijuana ban not strong enough


Synthetic marijuana was banned beginning March 9th in Lubbock. Mayor Pro Tem Karen Gibson said the key to fighting synthetic marijuana in the city is through education.

Lubbock passed an ordinance in February banning synthetic marijuana and many of the compounds that it can consist of. However — as many synthetic enthusiasts already know — it only takes one tweak of the compound to make it “street legal.” Mayor pro tem Karen Gibson said she will continue to fight for the ordinances, but in order to enact meaningful change, the issue must be addressed at the state level.
